Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to provide an update on the past week's activities at Torview from David Vutera.

During a storm this past weekend, the Con Ed transformer on Stormytown Road failed causing partial power loss at Torview. Regrettably, this power loss forced us to close the pool all day on Father's Day Sunday. This was a disappointment for all of us who visited the pool on Sunday and obviously could not be prevented by anyone. Con Ed was notified immediately and visited Torview on Sunday night and Monday afternoon. They were unable to restore full power because the type of transformer that failed is no longer available. After negotiations with Con Ed, it was decided that Con Ed would restore power by repositioning the transformer located in the Torview parking lot to Stormytown Road. The result of this repositioning would require new power cables to be installed from Stormytown Road to the utility pole outside the Torview office building. On Wednesday, Con Ed arrived at Torview and successfully implemented the change and restored full power to the pool. As a result of this change, the newly installed power cable bundle will be more resilient to future storm damage as compared to the older high-voltage cables that had been in service for many years. The pool is now ready and will be open this weekend during normal weekend hours (12-6 PM).

In other news, please review our Torview Events page which has been recently updated at http://www.torview.com/events.html. We are looking forward to all the fun events that have been scheduled at Torview this summer.

Starting this year, Torview will be holding BYO BBQ Nights each Sunday afternoon at the pool. We will light the grill at 4:00 PM this Sunday. So bring your food for the BBQ and enjoy a summer evening dinner together at the pool.

Please check out the new Links section of our web site at http://www.torview.com/links.html. This page lists links to web sites associated with Torview and our surrounding community. This past weekend, Torview hosted a booth at the Ossining Village Fair. It was a successful day for us to share Torview with potential new members. We actually received payment from one new member during the fair! Please check out
http://www.torview.com/villagefairphotos.html to view some pictures of our booth in action.

Finally, the Swim and Dive Team held its first get-together this past Saturday. There is still plenty of time to join the Swim and Dive Team. So please check out our updated Swim and Dive Team web site for more information on team practice and scheduled meets at http://www.torview.com/swimteam.html. Mark your calendar and please support your Torview Swim and Dive team by cheering them on this summer. If you have any further questions regarding the Swim and Dive Team, please send an e-mail to
mailto:swimteam@torview.com.

I wish you a great summer ahead and look forward to seeing all of you at the pool.
